Santa Fe Trail Timeline was at Kearny County Library from January 24 through the 28th. Linda Peters did a presentation on the 25th about the Santa Fe Trail at the library.

Western Kansas Community Foundation Webinar
The Western Kansas Community Foundation (WKCF) covers these 15 counties in our System area: Finney; Grant; Gray; Greeley; Hamilton; Haskell; Kearny; Lane; Meade; Morton; Scott; Seward; Stanton; Stevens; and Wichita Counties. If you have considered using this organization as a possible grantor, but haven’t yet, they are having a Zoom Webinar to inform everyone about their services.
The workshop is Thursday, February 10, 2022, from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm CT. You will “learn about WKCF’s grants, gain inspiration from successfully funded projects, learn some basic tips & tricks, and ask your questions” during this one hour. Registration is required to get the login information, which will be emailed to each participant the week of the workshop.
To register you need to send an email to wkcf@wkcf.org with the Subject Line “Grant Chat Registration”. In the main body, of the email, you will need to have the following:

Freedom to Read Roundtable
Booklist and Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group is sponsoring a “Freedom to Read Roundtable ” Hosted by the Texas Library Association. This roundtable will be on Thursday, February 24, 2022, beginning at 4:00 pm CT. If you are interested in attending you can register at the following link.
Be Weather Conscious
Just a reminder for everyone during this time of year. Please be weather conscious when traveling. If you or any of your staff are scheduled to drive somewhere and inclement weather comes in, please consider if the trip is truly necessary or if it can be rescheduled. Sadly on my roundabout way of going home through Coldwater, on Tuesday, I had two reminders of how life can change in an instant. I was not involved in any accident, but I did have to help at two.

COVID has presented challenges to libraries across the globe. Libraries are open, then they close–difficult to keep track of! Additionally, many Kansans are struggling with our health and wellness. If you are experiencing difficulty managing the library’s ILL activity during this hectic time, please let me know. I am always here to help and/or pause your participation, if you become overwhelmed and understaffed.
